Celebrating stories of resistance, community, and cultural legacy

🎕 Sachin Karta (2024)

Written by: Biprajit Bhattacharjee, Suvankar Ghosh Roy Chowdhury & Bibhu Bhattacharjee | Directed by: Bibhu Bhattacharjee

Sachin Karta, is a theatrical homage to the life and legacy of Sachin Dev Burman. The production seeks to honour not only his immense cultural impact on the subcontinent but also his deeply personal sense of belonging—his enduring love and longing for his desh.

The musical play deliberately foregrounds Burman's intimate connections with Tripura and Bangladesh, tracing the emotional and cultural landscapes that shaped his artistic sensibility. Moving beyond a conventional biographical narrative, Sachin Karta adopts a layered dramaturgy that interweaves personal anecdotes with the stories behind some of his most cherished compositions. In doing so, it reveals how his music emerged as a lived archive—infused with memories of place, relationships, displacement, and creative introspection.

Through a fluid interplay of performance, music, and narrative, the production explores recurring motifs of love, loss, and artistic fulfilment. The songs are not treated merely as musical interludes but as extensions of Burman's inner world, each composition echoing a fragment of his life.

🎕 Jibonsongi Dot Com

Written by Bibhu Bhattacharjee and Directed by Shuvankar Bhattacharjee

Jibon Songi Dot Com is a gripping suspense drama that blends crime, intelligence, and social reality into a compelling theatrical experience. The play follows a clever undercover operation led by the police to capture a notorious drug dealer who has long managed to stay beyond the reach of law enforcement. Although the dealer has no direct connection with any matrimonial racket, the police strategically use a matrimonial website as a medium to trap him, knowing that he has recently joined the platform in search of a life partner and a normal future. To execute the mission, a courageous female police officer assumes a fake identity and approaches the dealer through the matrimonial site. As conversations grow and trust begins to build, she carefully draws him closer while the police team secretly monitors every move. Eventually, the dealer arranges a date at his hotel, unaware that the meeting has been planned as part of a larger police operation. What begins as an ordinary search for companionship soon turns into a tense and dramatic confrontation, leading to the dealer’s arrest and the exposure of his criminal activities. Filled with suspense, emotional tension, and sharp storytelling, Jibon Songi Dot Com explores themes of deception, loneliness, and justice while reflecting the complex realities of modern digital relationships and crime.
